چکیده
Abstract The KM3NeT collaboration is currently deploying the first detection units of a neutrino observatory in Mediterranean Sea, which, once completed, will be equipped with thousands so-called digital optical modules. In addition to has designed an independent calibration unit, housing set instruments, including e.g. acoustic beacon and laser beacon. unit embedded software developed operate it are presented here.

Time calibration system for the KM3NeT deep sea neutrino telescope
In this contribution we review the time calibration system proposed for the future underwater KM3NeT neutrino telescope. Building on the experience gained with the pilot projects, ANTARES, NEMO and NESTOR, and the results in-situ from the ANTARES Optical Beacons, we propose a decoupled optical system, based on LEDs and lasers, to perform an intra-line and inter-line relative time calibration. T...
متن کاملThe Calibration Units of the KM3NeT neutrino telescope
KM3NeT is a network of deep-sea neutrino telescopes to be deployed in the Mediterranean Sea that will perform neutrino astronomy and oscillation studies. It consists of three-dimensional arrays of thousands of optical modules that detect the Cherenkov light induced by charged particles resulting from the interaction of a neutrino with the surrounding medium. The performance of the neutrino tele...
متن کاملThe KM3NeT Project for a Very Large Submarine Neutrino Telescope
The groups presently pursuing neutrino telescope projects in the Mediterranean Sea, ANTARES, NEMO, and NESTOR, have formed the new KM3NeT consortium to study the construction of a cubic kilometre-scale neutrino telescope for the Northern hemisphere. This challenging project will require the installation of thousands of photon detectors with their related electronics and calibration systems seve...
متن کاملKM3NeT: A Next Generation Neutrino Telescope in the Mediterranean Sea
To complement the IceCube neutrino telescope currently under construction at the South Pole, the three Mediterranean neutrino telescope projects ANTARES, NEMO and NESTOR have joined forces to develop, construct and operate a km-scale neutrino telescope in the Mediterranean Sea. Since February 2006, the technical specifications and performance of such a detector are studied in the framework of a...
متن کاملKM3NeT: A km3-scale neutrino telescope in the Mediterranean Sea
The KM3NeT consortium aims at the construction of a research infrastructure in the Mediterranean deep sea, hosting a neutrino telescope with an instrumented volume of several km3 and an integrated platform for earth and deep sea sciences. The telescope location in the Mediterranean Sea will allow for surveying a large part of the Galactic Plane, including the Galactic Centre, thus complementing...
